Music has always been a huge part of my family life. From a very early age, I can remember music on the kitchen radio over breakfast, listening to my Dad's folk records, singing and harmonizing with my sister, going on long car journeys listening to all sorts of music en route to our destination. It always made life more interesting and there was always a song in our house to help us children understand what was coming next, whether bed time, bath time or getting dressed time! Music is an amazing trigger for memory and I find myself singing a lot of the same "work songs" with my two children now - the right song can be a great help (or distraction!) in getting those last few spoons of porridge in, or those shampoo suds out!
So, at this week's "FAMILY" singalongs, I'll be taking you all on a walk down memory lane. I'd originally planned this class for the week of Valentine's Day, but my 'flu put paid to that - it's appropriate that we're covering it in the week of Mother's Day instead! As always, grandparents are very welcome to come along - let's get all the generations singing along together!
Posters for this week's classes created, as always, by my talented sister, Lyn. Feel free to like and share this link with friends who may be interested in joining our classes!
Are there any songs from your childhood, or any family favourites you remember? Tell me in the comments!
Looking forward to seeing you all!
