Delighted to be back this week at YMCA Surbiton and Rose Theatre Kingston - if you can't wait until Thursday or Friday, here's a little something to whet your appetite in the meantime! I've uploaded some videos from our Jungle-themed singalongs in June of this year. Hope you enjoy them!
I'm thrilled to announce that my WILD WEST shows will take place on Saturday, 23rd July, at Rose Theatre Kingston as part of their Under Sixes programming. It was so disappointing to have to cancel the original date back in February when I was ill, and I'm hoping you'll all be able to make it this time for some rip-roarin', yodel-ay-dee-hoo fun!
These shows are quite similar to my singalongs, the main difference being the size of the venue and the seating arrangements on pit cushions in the auditorium, and also the fact that they're open to all under sixes. My previous gig of this size and type - PIRATE themed - back in autumn 2015 was a huge success, and I'm really looking forward to bringing another great show to you all!
Saturday, 23rd July with performances at 10am, 11.30am, 1pm, duration 40 minutes.
Tickets are available directly from Rose Theatre:
I am delighted to announce that I am branching out and expanding my offering to educational settings, in particular nurseries and schools. If you have a child participating in an early years setting or attending school (Reception, Year 1 or Year 2), I would be very grateful if you could pass on my flyer to your child's class teacher and give them a verbal review of what I do.
I am available to hire for half days or full days to lead whole class music workshops for all age groups, rhythm and rhyme sessions in nurseries and reception classes and whole school singing assemblies.
I am happy to cater my sessions to fit in with whatever topics are being covered in the educational setting, for example: minibeasts, pirates, dinosaurs, farm animals etc. I will bring the usual bags of endless props, costumes, instruments to keep the crowd entertained :)
When I have had older siblings attend my classes I have had so much great feedback, hence the decision to branch out and return to my school roots, working with children of all ages.
If you think you can help spread the word, I would really appreciate it! My school-specific page is here:
The week before Easter, we'll only have classes at YMCA as the Rose Theatre is closed for the bank holiday on Friday 25th, so I'm going to hold off on the Easter singalong until Thursday 31st/Friday 1st April so we can do all our bunny hopping and egg hunting songs at both venues!
So what will be our theme for Thursday 24th March at YMCA? Well, I thought you'd all enjoy a Pick and Mix session where we cover any favourites from previous themed singalongs, or tracks from my CD. What do you think? What songs would you like to revisit? Any suggestions, send them my way - I'd love to hear them! And if you've got any new suggestions, that'd be great, too - over to you!
This week I'm really excited to have Shirley from Yo! Baby (www.yobabymusic.wordpress.com) joining me for our YMCA classes on Thursday, where we'll be celebrating St. Patrick's Day. We're both Irish and we have lots of great songs and tunes from our childhood in the Emerald Isle to share with you all. This is a singalong not to be missed! We've had great fun with this theme the last few years and this year will be no exception. Here are some pics from last year to get you in the mood - make sure and have your green garb ready to go!
This is my first blog post - I hope you like it!
Music has always been a huge part of my family life. From a very early age, I can remember music on the kitchen radio over breakfast, listening to my Dad's folk records, singing and harmonizing with my sister, going on long car journeys listening to all sorts of music en route to our destination. It always made life more interesting and there was always a song in our house to help us children understand what was coming next, whether bed time, bath time or getting dressed time! Music is an amazing trigger for memory and I find myself singing a lot of the same "work songs" with my two children now - the right song can be a great help (or distraction!) in getting those last few spoons of porridge in, or those shampoo suds out!
So, at this week's "FAMILY" singalongs, I'll be taking you all on a walk down memory lane. I'd originally planned this class for the week of Valentine's Day, but my 'flu put paid to that - it's appropriate that we're covering it in the week of Mother's Day instead! As always, grandparents are very welcome to come along - let's get all the generations singing along together!
Posters for this week's classes created, as always, by my talented sister, Lyn. Feel free to like and share this link with friends who may be interested in joining our classes!
Are there any songs from your childhood, or any family favourites you remember? Tell me in the comments!
Looking forward to seeing you all!
I'm an early years musician and singer based in Kingston-Upon-Thames, with highly popular weekly classes for under 5s and regular big music shows for under 6s. In December 2015 I released my first CD of children's music.
